unusual casting numbers

I have a 64 Dodge truck with a newer 360 motor. The casting numbers are 400 6830 360. Can anyone tell me what year this motor is? Also I replaced the cam and lifters due to an unfortunate mistake made by my local parts store and now it sounds like cam is not quite meshing right with the distributor gear. It runs just like it's supposed to but has a strange sound like no oil in the motor. I have plenty of oil pressure and ran it without the valve covers and am getting plenty of oil on top. It has a comp cam one size smaller than the comp cam that came out of it and I can't think of anything to do to fix it. Can anyone give me any advice?
