Gas guage issue on a satelite

I have a 1973 satelite and i put in a new gas tank and sending unit and the whole tank is painted with por 15. The guage doesnt work but i would take it for a ride and after awhile it would start to slowly come up to the correct reading of fuel. This was happening a couple of days ago, now it just goes to E because when the powers off it falls under E alittle. Does anyone have any idea of what the problem is. It worked fine with the old tank before i did the semi restoration. I finally got it tuned right and now the gas guage isnt working and its kinda buggin me. I appreciate any response and thanks in advance. Please help a mopar nut out.

Almost certainly your ground is bad. That's the strap that should clip onto the fuel feed line. If you ground your sender wire to chassis, the gauge should read completely full. If so, bad ground. If not, wiring/gauge issue.
